Velodyne, Inc. (http://www.velodyne.com), a leading manufacturer of high-performance and technically innovative audio products, announced today that it has appointed company veteran Rob Morse to the post of Director of Business Development for Audio.

Morse joined Velodyne in 2006 as an Audio Product Support Specialist responsible for post-sales and technical assistance to Velodyne’s dealer network and end-users. He was later named Product Support Specialist for Velodyne’s LiDAR division, a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of high-definition sensor technology used in commercial autonomous vehicle applications, including 3D mapping and surveying. Morse was then promoted to Director of Support Services for both Audio and LiDAR divisions, providing pre- and post-purchase support to domestic and international dealers.

In his new role, Morse will work with Velodyne’s audio inventory, product development, engineering and sales teams to build and manage strategic business relationships with the goal of expanding Velodyne’s core audio business and further strengthening its market position.

“Rob has a unique understanding of consumer electronics and the changing dynamics of the retail environment,” said Marta Hall, Velodyne President. “His experience with all aspects of Velodyne’s audio products – from subwoofers to headphones and everything in between – positions him to be a major contributor to Velodyne audio’s future success, both domestically and internationally.”

“Working on behalf of one of the leading brands in high-end audio has been a privilege, and I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities this new role will afford,” Morse said. “In the year ahead, we will expand and deepen our line of offerings in audio. We look forward to extending our market leadership, in the U.S. and internationally.”

Morse studied radio and television at San Jose State University and worked as a broadcast engineer at radio station KSJO-FM before starting his sales career in consumer electronics with Circuit City, Best Buy and Video Only, where he served as Regional Distribution Manager and Regional Sales Manager.
