First Floor Auditorium San Diego Central Library @ Joan Irwin Jacobs Common - Directors Harvey Hubbell V and Dusten Pecor will launch their new Kickstarter project, titled “2Heads App” a dyslexia-empowerment app. The launch will include a screening of “Dislecksia: The Movie” accompanied by a panel discussion with directors, actors, technology innovators, and literacy experts.
Key literacy statistics in the U.S.:
42 million adult Americans can’t read or are limited to 4th or 5th grade reading material. The healthcare industry estimates that $73 billion per year is spent on unnecessary healthcare expenses attributable to poor literacy.
60% of all prison inmates are functionally illiterate.
