San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- Accela, the leading provider of engagement solutions for government, today announced Mark Headd has joined the company as a Technical Evangelist where he will play a key role in shaping the company’s fast growing developer program and platform vision.
To support the company’s initiatives and programs, Headd will engage with civic-minded developers to innovate and deploy government productivity and citizen engagement apps on the Accela Civic Platform. The goal of the Developer Program is recruit and empower entrepreneurs with the tools to create applications for Accela’s worldwide installed base on the Civic Platform – a compilation of powerful cloud, social and mobile technologies that facilitate productivity for government workers and allow citizens to engage 24/7.
Headd is a writer, speaker, teacher and thought leader on civic technology and open government. Self taught in programming, he has been developing web, telephone, speech recognition and messaging applications for over 10 years. Most recently, the Nutter Administration selected Headd to become the City of Philadelphia’s first Chief Data Officer, to lead the Mayor’s open data and government transparency initiatives. He has worked for technology companies from the Delaware Valley to Silicon Valley and has served as Director of Government Relations at Code for America.
“Mark comes to us with a diverse background, spanning both programming and policy. He has a clear understanding that engagement makes all the difference in bridging the divide between what citizens want and governments need for successful application deployment. With Mark’s leadership, we believe vast reservoirs of creativity will be tapped, resulting in applications that people love to use while building trust in government,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO.
“It couldn’t be a better time to join Accela,” said Headd. “I’m impressed by Accela’s commitment to the idea of ‘government as a platform,’ and the investment they are making to ensure customer success. And with Accela’s commitment to supporting the release of open data, it’s a perfect opportunity to help connect civic technologists and developers with government agencies to build solutions that benefit entire communities.”
