The Sunday Telegraph awarded Handbagged with five-stars, describing the production as "Magnificent". The praise was also heaped on by Metro who gave the play four-stars and reviewed the play as "a clever, mischievous pleasure with the sharp teeth of a kicked corgi".
Further four-star praise came from the Daily Telegraph, who thought the play was "Outstanding", The Evening Standard, "wickedly funny" and The Guardian who thought the play was "perfectly pitched between the comic and the serious."
Time Out also gave Handbagged five-stars, describing it as "deliriously funny" whist The Times thought Handbagged was "Pure theatre, doing something only a theatre can. It should, as Maggie would have said, go on and on". Finally, The Independent also enjoyed the "Genuinely fresh and irresistible mischievous... sovereign fun."
