CODIE 2014 Finalist for Best Learning Game: Word Raider Quest

To be recognized for the work we put into Word Raider: Quest, in addition to being grouped alongside the other great nominees, is a tremendous honor.

Brea, CA (PRWEB) April 14, 2014

Ballard & Tighe, Publishers announced today that their online educational video game, Word Raider: Quest (http://www.word-raider.com) has been named a finalist in the CODiE Awards for Best Learning Game. The CODiEs are the premier awards for the software and information industries, recognizing product excellence for 29 years.

Designed for grades 6 and up, Word Raider: Quest is an educational video game that teaches academic vocabulary, grammar, sentence construction, and complex text. Word Raider is specifically designed to help English language learners, struggling readers, and English-only students prepare for state tests and the Common Core State Standards.

“Word Raider blends game-based learning principles with research in vocabulary development,” says Mark Espinola, CEO of Ballard & Tighe. “To be recognized for the work we put into Word Raider: Quest, in addition to being grouped alongside the other great nominees, is a tremendous honor. We are thrilled.”

Co-developed with Filament Games (https://www.filamentgames.com), Word Raider has the ability to engage and teach students at their own pace through visual, sensory, and interactive scaffolds that build deeper meaning and long-term retention. It also provides a perfect vehicle for learning and assessment.

“This year’s finalists are breaking ground with new business models and innovative products,” said Karen Billings, vice president of the SIIA Education Division. “I look forward to honoring them all in May at the Education Industry Summit.” Winners will be announced during a special awards dinner at the nation’s leading education technology conference, the Education Industry Summit, in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
