Landscape Industry Professionals Volunteer to Renovate Green Spaces Nationwide
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), the national association for landscape industry professionals, is gearing up to create and reinvigorate green spaces in communities across America on its annual Day of Service, Tuesday, April 22.
The nationwide event is a grassroots project that allows lawn and landscape companies to plan and carry out volunteer projects that help people in their own communities. The goal is to create outdoor spaces which people to be active, spend time together, or relax.
“The generosity of members of this industry to donate their time to rehabilitate a park or sports field, create an outdoor classroom, or build a playground at a children’s center is just amazing to see,” explained Glenn Jacobsen, Landscape Industry Certified, president of PLANET. “It really impacts peoples’ lives in a direct way and makes their communities more enjoyable to live in.”
On PLANET Day of Service, lawn and landscape professionals will mulch, prune, plant, mow, weed, and clean up locations across the country at such places as community gardens, camps, woodland preserves, parks, and social service facilities, as well as carry out projects to benefit Veterans.
In the past five years, landscape industry professionals have completed nearly 1,000 projects with the help of more than 12,000 volunteers, at an estimated value of $4 million.
