Team Forge Ahead USA to Promote American Manufacturing During 2014 One Lap of America Competition
South Bend, Indiana (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- On May 3rd, approximately 65 teams will gather at the Tire Rack facility in South Bend to begin this year’s One Lap of America competition. Team Tricel / Forge Ahead USA will use the high‐profile event to promote the importance of buying American‐made products, supporting U.S. manufacturers, and recycling dollars back into our nation’s economy. In anticipation of a strong finish this year, they have assembled an impressive list of American-made products to modify their team vehicle.
The 2014 Tire Rack One Lap of America is the modern version of the famous Cannonball Run, and will be held May 3-10. Organized by the same group of enthusiasts who pioneered the original event that challenged drivers to a grueling cross-country (and illegal) race, today’s event is still a test of endurance, but it is now legal. (Each performance driving event takes place only on professional race tracks.)
Last year, the team raced to an impressive third place podium finish, and many agree that they are the ones to watch in 2014. Team drivers are Steve Loudin and Tom Drewer, both experienced racers driving the ultimate American muscle car, a modified Dodge Viper SRT‐10. The eight‐day event will cover more than 3200 miles across 13 states and put their “MADE in the USA” message in front of thousands of Americans. They will make stops in each state to compete on professional race tracks, providing them with an ideal audience to help spread the importance of American manufacturing.
“The One Lap of America is a great way to spread the word about the Forge Ahead USA campaign,” explained car owner Steve Loudin. "It is great to see a renewed interest in buying American‐made products, so this is one way that we can help bring attention to these American companies and the important role they play of recycling dollars back into our economy.”
Forge Ahead USA is a marketing campaign created to assist companies to effectively communicate their Made in the USA advantage.
Sponsors supporting the team’s effort include: Tricel Honeycomb Corporation, Whelen Engineering, Archer Racing, Forgeline Wheels, American Racing Headers, Arrow Racing Engines, CORSA Performance, PartsRack, StopTech, DMS South, Teamtech, Cool Shirt & Jason Industries.
