“The writing’s on the wall – Aerosmith and Slash. We’re gonna let rock rule this summer. Catch us if you can,” Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry stated.
The writing truly IS on the wall. After nearly a week of tagging walls throughout Dowtown Los Angeles and Austin with images of the iconic Aerosmith logo and the date April 8th, Aerosmith members finally revealed on Tuesday that they will be going on tour with Slash this summer. The Let Rock Rule World Tour will kick off overseas next month and will launch its North American tour dates on July 10th at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York. This 21-date tour will carry on through to September 12th, hitting major US and Canadian cities along the way.
Since the 1970s and 80s, Aerosmith and Slash have each established themselves as staples in the hard rock music scene. Throughout their respective careers, both bands have been decorated with awards and achievements, including inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Achievements aside, both Aerosmith and Slash have have maintained friendships over the past few decades and have toured together previously. For Slash, this will bring his career full circle. In the summer of 1988, Slash, along with his former band Guns N' Roses, performed as the opening act for Aerosmith for part of the Permanent Vacation Tour. Slash has not held back in showing his excitement to share the stage with Aerosmith again.
"Aerosmith is one of my all time favorite bands, and one of the greatest rock ‘n roll bands of all time. It’s an honor for me to go out and tour with them and keep the rock ‘n roll banner flying high,” says Slash.
This is bound to be one of the hottest concerts of the summer and is expected to sell fast. 2014 Let Rock Rule Tour tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday morning.
