James Scott Farrin Attorneys Volunteer at Record Breaking Service Event

Many North Carolinians received answers to their legal questions earlier this year at the NC Bar Association’s annual service day, where attorneys across the state gave free legal advice to the public. Two Durham attorneys, from the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, volunteered their time and knowledge.

“Sometimes people need attorneys to handle complex issues in their lives and I’m just so thankful that I could help even one person with this event,” said NC Workers' Compensation Hunter Gentel, a previous 4ALL Service Day volunteer.

On March 7th, 2014 the seventh annual 4ALL Statewide Service Day was held at eight call centers throughout North Carolina. 4ALL provides the public with local attorneys who volunteer their time to give free legal advice through these highly organized call centers.

Two attorneys from James Scott Farrin volunteered – NC Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law,Barry Jennings, and another NC workers’ compensation attorney, Hunter Gentel.

“Sometimes people need attorneys to handle complex issues in their lives and I’m just so thankful that I could help even one person with this event,” said Gentel, a previous 4ALL Service Day volunteer. “Every caller I spoke to said, ‘Thank you so much for helping me.’ That response makes me feel good about the work I do and the impact it can have.”

Even with disagreeable weather, the local North Carolina volunteers turned the seventh 4ALL Statewide Service Day into a record breaking one.

The day totaled 490 volunteers and 9,298 phone calls.

Word is spreading that local attorneys are dedicated to helping people in their communities.

The North Carolina Bar Association Foundation and the North Carolina Bar Association started the 4ALL Service Day in 2008. The program’s main goal is to provide the public with free, accurate legal information and reliable referrals for future legal questions.

“The most rewarding aspect was simply having the opportunity to talk to people in need of advice. In 4 hours, the phone never stopped ringing,” said Jennings. “Legal advice is something that people truly need, so it’s great that this program gives people a reliable resource to ask the questions they have.”
