Port80 to Donate $50,000 of Web Security Software to Universities
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 10, 2014 -- Purpose of the Program
This new grant aims to help introduce a level of web security where there is currently none. Educational institutions have had millions of records stolen over the last few years, yet many require stronger security. With personal data and other sensitive data or intellectual property at risk, there is a strong need in the education sector to have strong web security practices in place.
Grant Application Details
Selected institutions will receive one to two licenses of Port80’s ServerDefender VP web application firewall. The ideal recipient will have a real need for a web application firewall. This can be due to the existence of a security vulnerability that cannot be remediated, or because of the processing of unprotected sensitive data. ServerDefender VP can also help address HIPAA compliance, to which some institutions may need to adhere.
The criteria for selection will be based on the following:
- Need based on existing security infrastructure
- Ability to purchase new security infrastructure
- Number of students and faculty records that require protection
- Compatibility with web application firewall software (ServerDefender VP 2.2.0)
