Press4Kids, Inc. Receives 1 Million in Seed Funding
New York, NY, April 7, 2014 (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- Press4Kids has closed the second half of a seed financing round totaling $1 million. The participants include private investors and entrepreneurs directly involved with the education market. The company will use the funds to scale the use of News-O-Matic, School Edition in classrooms across the nation and to develop additional tools to facilitate teaching and assessment.
Built by dedicated journalists, educators, and entrepreneurs, Press4Kids is the publisher of News-O-Matic, the daily news application for kids. Its mission is to inform children about world events — and inspire them to read every day. News-O-Matic seamlessly combines nonfiction literacy and gamification to produce an engaging and interactive learning experience.
News-O-Matic is read by thousands of students at school and at home as the chosen source of age-appropriate current events. Its dedicated School Edition provides a Teacher’s Guide, which correlates articles to the Common Core State Standards and differentiates the reading levels within the edition. News-O-Matic was awarded Best App for Teaching and Learning 2013 by the American Association of School Librarians.
“We’re thrilled to have such a talented and savvy group of investors who understand our mission and believe in our ability to grow the business substantially,” commented Press4Kids founder Lillian Holtzclaw Stern. “This funding will allow us to expand sales and distribution within the school ecosystem, providing educators with a much needed resource.”
News-O-Matic is distributed through schools and homes with a goal of reaching the 38,000,000 students attending one of the 111,000 U.S. elementary schools. Press4Kids will continue its efforts to grow both communities into robust entities.
Press4Kids (P4K) publishes daily digital news publications for elementary and middle school kids. Its flagship educational news app, News-O-Matic, promotes global citizenship by informing students of the top local, national, and international news stories. Combining an educational and grade-appropriate approach with an engaging, innovative, and interactive environment, News-O-Matic provides a unique way for kids to enhance nonfiction reading skills. P4K was started in 2012 by dedicated educators, journalists and entrepreneurs.
