Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 10, 2014

Portland, Oregon is once again attracting national social media talent with the SoMe (Social Media) Awards, taking place at 7:30 p.m. on May 22, 2014 at Castaway in Northwest Portland. Co-presented by TMMPDX.COM and the Social Media Club of Portland, the awards program spotlights groundbreaking social media campaigns and honors top social innovations by marketing agencies, in-house teams and freelancers from across the United States. Now in it’s sixth year, the SoMe Awards are an opportunity for those to celebrate accomplishments in the ever growing world of social media.

Past SoMe Awards recipients have been agencies and individuals across the country including McCann Erickson NY for the Trayvon Million Hoodies Campaign, and Chris Brogan (Hall of Fame honoree), as well as local Portland, Oregon teams such as Mambo Media.

To submit work for consideration in the SoMe Awards, visit http://www.someawards.com. There is no cost to enter and deadline for nominations have been extended to April 18, 2014.

"Social media tends to get boxed into discussions about technology. But the true promise of social media is in its ability to improve communication, collaboration, and relationships between…everyone. That’s what I appreciate about the SoMes, it celebrates the people behind the technology and what it is they change in the process,” states Brian Solis, the 2014 Hall of Fame Honoree. “To make the Hall of Fame is pretty special. It’s nice to know that years of pushing forward against the things and people that tend to push back has not gone unrecognized. Onward!"

"I'm so honored to be working with the SoMe's for the sixth year in a row. Each year the work submitted gets bigger, better and bolder,” says Lisa Peyton, Executive Editor for TMMPDX.COM. “Recognizing the amazing social media work being done is extremely rewarding and makes for a very inspirational event!"

The SoMe Awards follows the SoMe Forum, a Portland social media conference that brings in experts from companies such as Intel and Sony. From 1:00 to 6:00 PM on May 22nd, the Forum focuses on innovations in social media and provides education, inspiration and networking for attendees. Keynote speakers include Pam Slim of escapefromcubiclenation.com, and Brian Solis, a Hall of Fame award winner for 2014.

The half-day forum begins at 1pm on May 22nd and includes two one-hour keynotes, presentations by SoMe award finalists, and panel presentations with several industry thought-leaders. The SoMe Awards 2014 will take place that evening, after a brief break for dinner. All events will be held at Castaway venue, 1900 NW 18th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97209.
