“This is a really cool set of changes to play over and also to just kind of improvise on chorally”, says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates the chords used in this blues lesson as follows; first is an Eb (E flat) bar chord rooted on the 6th fret of the 5th string. Next is a G9/D rooted on the 10th fret of the 5th string and then he walks down to a Cm7 rooted on the 8th fret of the 5th string, played with his thumb “Jimi Hendrix style”. Next is a B13 chord rooted at the 7th fret of the 6th string and then to a Bbm7 (B flat minor 7) to an A13 rooted on the 5th fret of the 6th string and then to an Ab13 (A flat 13) by simple moving the whole chord shape down one half step. Then he moves back up to an A diminished chord rooted at the 5th fret of the 6th string and then to an Eb/Bb (E flat over B flat) rooted on the 6th fret of the 6th string and from there me moves to a C9 rooted on the 3rd fret of the 5th string. Next is F7#5 (F seven sharp five) rooted on the first fret of the 6th string, also played with his thumb and then he moves that shape up to the 6th fret to make Bb7#5.
