Edge 1000 adds loads of new features, a new Segments platform, and the highest screen resolution of any bike computer on the market, says the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"Edge 1000 is thinner, has a larger screen, a handlebar remote control, and offers a Strava-like platform called Garmin Segments that allows you to race and compare times with over six million users," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "It will even receive texts and identify callers directly from your phone so you can decide if something important comes along."
See Actual Gearing
"Using electronic shifting, like Shimano Di2, you can see your actual gearing displayed right on the metrics screen," says Squire. He adds, "It will also deliver power data from Garmin Vector or other compatible power meters."
New Cadence and Speed Sensors
"Garmin will use brand new separate cadence and speed sensors with this unit that are no longer frame mounted and use accelerometer technology," says Squire.
See Texts and Who is Calling
"Thanks to Bluetooth Smart 4.0, you can receive on screen text messages and even see who is calling and their phone number," says Squire. He adds, "This might be great in an emergency but too many distractions on the fly, or certainly during a race wouldn't be welcome."
Connect With Loads of Sensors and Equipment
Garmin Edge 1000 can remote control a Garmin VIRB Elite camera, receive power data, cadence, and upload your data and map location in real-time via a Smartphone," says Squire. He adds, "There is no other bike computer in the world that has this level of features or screen clarity."
"Edge 1000 works great with Garmin Vector power pedals as well," says Squire
Availability and Price
"Edge 1000 will be available in early to mid-May and will be $599 or $699 with the full bundle containing all sensors," says Squire.
