MDA & Western Refining Team up to Fight Back Against Muscle Disease
Phoenix (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- More than 230 Western Refining convenience stores – including Giant Mustang, Sun Dial and Howdy’s – throughout the Southwest will join forces with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the third consecutive year for the “Make a Muscle, Make a Difference®’’ mobile campaign to help families affected by muscle disease.
From April 29 through June 2, Western Refining subsidiaries located throughout Arizona, southwest Colorado, New Mexico and southwest Texas will sell $1 and $5 pin-up mobiles that offer customers the opportunity to donate to their local community and help support families served by MDA.
“Western Refining is proud to be part of the annual ‘Make a Muscle’ mobile campaign that will help save the lives of those fighting muscle diseases,” said Western Refining Vice President – Retail, R.C. Sprouse. "This campaign has been successful due to the generosity of our dedicated employees and customers. With their continued support, we hope to exceed last year's fundraising efforts and help fuel the fight against muscular dystrophy and related diseases."
The mobiles are bought and signed by generous customers and will prominently be displayed in each store throughout the campaign. Last year, more than $351,824 was raised through mobile sales donations. This year’s goal is $370,000.
"Western Refining has made a big difference for those we serve by raising not only awareness, but the funds needed to help find treatments and cures for dozens of life-threatening muscle diseases," said MDA Executive Director Traci McMillan. “We are grateful to have the continuous support of a company that is committed to serving its local communities and helping MDA families across the Southwest."
Each “Make a Muscle, Make a Difference” mobile sold will directly benefit local MDA families and help raise vital funds for MDA's programs of research and health care services, including sending children affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp.
