Nashville Marketing Firm Launches Tech Startup Using Unique Entrepreneurial Model

The A Group (TAG), a marketing and technology agency in Nashville, Tennessee, announces the launch of a sister company, Textify Mobile, a software-as-a-service startup designed to provide businesses and organizations with an easy-to-use text marketing and fundraising solution.

Textify was created through a unique entrepreneurial model that gave TAG employees the opportunity to be a part of the launch team in exchange for profit sharing. Just weeks after launch, Textify is already witnessing great success, with nonprofit users raising thousands of dollars and acquiring hundreds of new donors using the texting platform.

“There are more cell phones than toothbrushes in the world,” said Maurilio Amorim, Founder and CEO of The A Group and Textify Mobile. “Our phones are almost always within an arm’s reach, and most texts are read within minutes of being sent. Textify is an easy-to-use and affordable text marketing and fundraising platform that gives businesses, artists, churches, and nonprofits the ability to communicate with supporters, recruit volunteers, send out special offers, accept donations, and sell products, all from a phone.

The idea for the product was born from The A Group’s decade of experience working with clients – mainly churches, ministries, and nonprofits – who were seeking mobile marketing solutions but unable to find one service that met all of their needs. With a team of marketers and developers in house, TAG decided: why not build their own.

TAG employees who opted to be a part of the startup worked after hours as contractors to develop, brand, and market the software in exchange for payouts from the profits and future profit sharing in Textify. Once the product launched, work was brought in-house for maintenance, sales, and support.

“We were able to quickly develop a product, launch it, and remain in constant conversation with our early users,” said Amorim. “Those early adopters spoke into ways to improve processes and suggest features they wanted, and we’ve been able to continue to build and adapt Textify to truly meet the desires of our users.”

Within weeks of launch, Textify had already seen great success, especially with its text-to-give option. Cross Point, a large church in Nashville and one of the nation’s fastest growing churches, recently introduced Textify Mobile to its congregation and acquired more than 700 new donors in one day. Another church raised nearly $10,000 in one day using Textify.

With mobile predicted to overtake desktop internet usage this year, the case for adopting mobile communications into organizational practices is well established. According to current research:

  •     Every 24 hours, 6.4 billion text messages are sent
  •     People look at their phones over 150 times on average per day
