Connect First Partner “The World Racing League” Inaugural Event a Success
College Station, Tx (PRWEB) April 10, 2014 -- The World Racing League (WRL), a new grassroots motorsport series created to bridge the gap between budget-based endurance racing and professional endurance racing, hosted its inaugural race at Motorsports Ranch Houston. The twin 8-hour races, billed as “Eights to Open. Trips to Win” pitted 26 teams from across Texas and the Southwest in a test of speed and strategy. Drivers pushed their cars and skills to the limits on the 2.3-mile road course. Like any endurance race, there were obstacles, mechanical failures, exhaustion and battles, but some uncharacteristically close racing throughout kept everyone on the edge. As the checkered flag fell on Sunday afternoon, the top three cars in the GP1 class finished on the same lap, with the Mustang of Shakey Dog Racing winning by just over one minute.
What makes WRL so attractive is its simple, concise rules, and power-to-weight based classing structure that allows a broad range of cars to be competive. The rules also keep racing costs under control by limiting car preparation. “We created World Racing League to appeal to people who love racing but don’t want to spend a fortune or thumb through fat rulebooks for hours on end,” said series founder Joey Todd. “No gimmicks, no campy names, no bureaucracy. Just good clean racing among great competitors.”
The 2014 schedule features races of 8 to 12 hours on tracks across the United States. WRL is also planning to add 24-hour events as the schedule grows. For more information on WRL, and to find out how you can get involved, visit their website at http://www.worldracingleague.org/
About The World Racing League: World Racing League (WRL) is a grassroots endurance racing series based on the idea that amateur road racing should be accessible and enjoyable, without unnecessary hassles or barriers to participate, and without losing the flavor and nature of real competition. WRL is focused on one thing: Being the best amateur endurance racing series in North America. Club racing cars, Vintage racing cars, budget racing cars, if they are safe and fall within WRL’s power-to-weight limits, then they are also World Racing League cars. PT, STO, STL, GT, Production, IT, SM, Chump and LeMons are just a few of the types of cars that fit into a class.
