Radius Networks Announces RadBeacon Tag Proximity Beacon
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 -- Radius Networks, Inc., the leading provider of mobile proximity services, today announced the release of its RadBeacon Tag Bluetooth Smart proximity beacon with iBeacon technology. The RadBeacon Tag is powered by a user-replaceable coin-cell battery and can be installed in any location, regardless of available power. The RadBeacon Tag provides proximity services for mobile applications that are compatible with iBeacon microlocation technology.
Proximity beacons using iBeacon technology are short range, low power, Bluetooth Smart transmitters that can notify mobile devices when they come within 100 feet of the beacon. This micro-location proximity awareness can be leveraged to deliver a wide range of new innovative solutions, such as precision indoor navigation, automatic ticketing, guided museum tours and location-relevant offers and promotions.
“After the phenomenal reception to our RadBeacon USB proximity beacons, we are making good on our commitment to expand our line of RadBeacons to provide the widest variety of packaging and power options. The RadBeacon Tag proximity beacon is lightweight, small in size and easy to deploy. It’s the perfect beacon for conferences, trade shows and other events where power may not be readily available and flexibility in placement is most important,” said David Helms, Chief Product Officer at Radius Networks.
“We’ve extended the capabilities of the RadBeacon app for iOS, providing a unified and integrated configuration tool for both the RadBeacon Tag and the RadBeacon USB proximity beacons,” said Chris Sexton, Director of Software Engineering for Radius Networks. “The RadBeacon app for iOS gives users full configuration control of RadBeacon advertisement data, transmit power and advertising rate, making RadBeacons adjustable to suit a wide variety of deployment scenarios.”
“RadBeacon Tag is a great addition to our suite of products that leverage iBeacon technology. There are now over 20,000 users of Radius Networks’ beacon developer kits, developer tools, and our ProximityKit cloud services and mobile SDKs. The introduction of the RadBeacon Tag proximity beacon with iBeacon technology is continued proof that Radius Networks is the market leader in the enabling technologies that are helping developers deliver real mobile proximity solutions to their customers.”
RadBeacon Tag is FCC certified and initially available for sale to customers in the United States. Additional customer regions will be added as relevant national certifications are completed.
