Announcing 15th Annual San Francisco Oysterfest
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 12, 2014 -- O'Reilly's Productions announces the 15th Annual San Francisco OysterFest in Sharon Meadow on Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event is the largest Oyster festival on the West Coast drawing over 300,000 people to date. Over half a million succulent oysters have willingly sacrificed themselves over the years and with succulent fresh oysters from a variety of oyster farms across the Pacific Coast there’s even more to enjoy at this year’s Oysterfest.
This year’s festival includes the winner of SF Station’s local music showcase, The Lineup, produced in partnership with OysterFest as opening for a dynamic cast of contemporary bands featuring Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Poolside, Ra Ra Riot and Crash, all in the beautiful setting of Golden Gate Park.
SF Station introduced The Lineup up in fall 2011 in an effort to promote emerging local bands. The first showcase drew capacity crowds and now they’re back with the winning local band landing a three song set at the festival in Golden Gate Park and the runner up receiving recording time at Different Fur Studios. The top four bands in the voting will place a showcase night at The Boom Boom Room, April 24th.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros formed in 2007 after singer Alex Ebert met fellow singer Jade Castrinos outside of a cafe in downtown Los Angeles. In 2009 the 10 member troupe released their debut album Up From Below which featured the universally appealing hit “Home” as well as fan favorite’s “40 Day Dream” and “Janglin”.The past few years have been spent constantly touring the world while winning over audiences at festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Leeds, Austin City Limits and more. With their follow up album Here featuring “Man On Fire” and “That’s What’s Up” recently being released, the band will tour Europe, North America and Australia this year while a third self-titled album was released in 2013.
Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise of Poolside are good friends who are inspired by California, mezcal, dancing, good food, and friends. Filip is a Danish producer now living in LA who plays bass in Ima Robot; Jeffrey throws the infamous Blow Up party in San Francisco and used to be in the hardwave band the Calculators with Luke and Vito from the Rapture. Poolside’s debut single “Do You Believe?” was charted by Todd Terje, Dimitri From Paris, and The Magician, and Dazed & Confused praised the song for its “pop-tinged disco, brimming with optimistic vocals and retro acid synths,” while NME lauded its “supremely casual decadence.” “Take Me Home,” Poolside’s second song to be released, was the first song on Aeroplane’s In Flight Entertainment compilation. Poolside’s debut album Pacific Standard Time was released in 2012.
Ra Ra Riot first met seven years ago while attending school in Syracuse, New York, and quickly graduated from basement rehearsals and student dance parties to blog buzz and press acclaim for their debut The Rhumb Line. After extensive touring for their meticulously recorded second record The Orchard and some membership changes, Ra Ra Riot decided to mix things up for their album Beta Love, leaving upstate New York for Sweet Tea, The Oxford, MS studio of producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse/Elvis Costello/Wavves).
O’Reilly’s Productions is proud to feature such an amazing and diverse line up of talent, a show truly not to be missed.
The 15th Annual San Francisco OysterFest stands out among other Bay Area festivals because of its brilliant blend of music, oysters and Guinness stout. Although oysters are king here, there’s also a wide range of food from some of San Francisco’s finest restaurants with an emphasis on providing healthy, local, and sustainable products. A wide variety of beverages will also be available, ranging from lager, stout, ale wine and premium spirits. A boutique festival, The 15th San Francisco Oysterfest’s intimate setting and size make it a welcome relief from today’s monster festivals.
Activities at the 15th Annual San Francisco Oysterfest include the ever-popular “Shuck and Suck” competition, an Oyster History Exhibition and cooking demonstrations. Additionally, there will be a spacious play area set aside for children and live art demonstrations.
In cooperation with San Francisco Parks and Recreation, the festival supports San Francisco’s goal of achieving zero waste truly green. Please help us support San Francisco with its goal of achieving zero waste. All food and beverage containers are compostable.
