Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “String Bending Exercise over an A Blues Progression - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) April 13, 2014 -- “Right now we are looking at a blues in the key of A,” says MacLennan. “I developed this kind of string bending exercise, it’s just a good exercise to work on your accuracy of being in tune with your bends and also great for learning to just outline chords while improvising over a blues.” This exercise consists of bending into the thirds of each chord in the blues. Jon explains that the chords on the backing track he is playing over are A7, D7 and E7. Jon says that “you need to find the third of each of those chords”. Jon explains the thirds for each chord as follows; on the A7 the third is C# (C Sharp), he starts a whole step below on B on the 4th fret of the 3rd string and he bends it up to a C#. Next he moves to D7 and the third is F# (F Sharp) which he bends from E on the 5th fret of the 2nd string. And finally for the five chord, E7, the Target Note is G# (G Sharp) which bends up from the F# on the 7th fret of the 2nd string. Jon recommends practicing this at different places on the fret board for best results. Jon continues this blues guitar lesson by improvising this technique over a backing track.
