Joslin Diabetes Center’s John L. Brooks III to Keynote Connecticut Health Council’s April Program
Hartford, Conn. (PRWEB) April 11, 2014 -- The Connecticut Health Council, an association of health sector leaders who work together to promote Connecticut as a national center of health excellence and to improve health care and wellness, will host ‘Innovation Takes on the Diabetes Pandemic’ featuring John L. Brooks, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Joslin Diabetes Center on Thursday, April 17th from 7:30-9:30a.m. at the New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Avenue in New Haven, Conn.
“Diabetes is an issue that many people struggle with and the Joslin Diabetes Center is at the forefront of improving their quality of life,” said Oz Griebel, President and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance, which provides the operational support for the Council. “John is a dynamic speaker with a wealth of knowledge to share, and attendees will learn a great deal about the many innovations that are helping to combat the diabetes pandemic.”
During his career, Mr. Brooks has co-founded four life sciences companies, including Insulet, a disruptive insulin delivery company. He has also served as principal of Healthcare Capital Consulting LLC, which advised early-stage life sciences companies and was the founder of Prism Venture Partners, a venture capital firm. Mr. Brooks currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s leading diabetes research, clinical care and education organization. The Center’s mission is to prevent, treat and cure diabetes and its complications. Joslin’s work improves the lives of people with diabetes or at risk of diabetes worldwide.
