Dr. Strand brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in chronic pain management to Freedom Pain Hospital.

Dr. Strand may be best known as one half of the first all-female team to win the CBS show, The Amazing Race, but even beyond that, she is a public advocate for the chronic pain patient. Appearances on The Doctors and several news outlets have cemented her as a media personality, but what is more substantial is her education and training at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Stand has also been a keynote speaker at several events nationwide, including organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, TCOYD patient education group, and Diabetes Sisters non-profit organization. Dr. Strand is also a co-author of an upcoming book, to be published by the American Diabetes Association, “Women and Diabetes: A Path to Wellness.”
As the Medical Director she will be spearheading the Ketamine Program at Freedom Pain Hospital, which will offer an advanced treatment option for those who suffer from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Dr. Strand previously held the position of Director of Ketamine Infusion Services at USC, having started that program from the ground up.
Additionally, Dr. Strand will be implementing a Headache Treatment Program at the hospital, utilizing her Mayo Clinic training in headaches to implement an effective treatment program. She has been published in several pain publications including Pain Pathways and Practical Pain Management, and has presented at national and international conferences on general pain management and treatment options for chronic headaches. Dr. Strand has also given grand rounds at Mayo Clinic three times, further proving that her medical expertise in pain management will open doors for patients in need of advanced and specialized treatment options.
