Silicon Mechanics, Inc. announces that it will be showcasing products and services that benefit pharmaceutical and healthcare customers as a gold sponsor at Bio-IT World Conference & Expo, April 29-May 1, 2014 at the World Trade Center, in Boston, Massachusetts, Booth 361. Highlighting its customized high performance computing solutions and software-defined storage ecosystem, Silicon Mechanics will be on hand to discuss how its proven success as an integrator ensures solutions tailored to customers’ existing and future business needs. The company will also announce the recipient of its 3rd Annual Research Cluster Grant program, in which the company and its partners will donate a complete high-performance computer cluster as part of a research grant.
Storage practice offers complete ecosystem
With a wide-ranging storage practice, Silicon Mechanics offers a complete ecosystem of storage products that can solve medical records and research storage challenges. The company’s approach focuses on understanding specific storage needs, building just the right architecture, and then providing support and service under its broad “Expert included” pledge. At Bio-IT, Silicon Mechanics will present live demonstrations of StoreCore 104, an enterprise-class, software-defined storage solution built on ZFS, which costs a fraction of legacy vendors’ systems. Based on industry standard x86 hardware, the high-performance, scalable, cloud- and virtualization-optimized storage management system features a hybrid storage pool architecture and optional high-speed network interfaces, without proprietary hardware. StoreCore is being used successfully in several research applications.
High performance computing – listen, build architecture, offer service and support
Silicon Mechanics is excited to use Bio-IT to highlight its success in building HPC clusters for both commercial and academic research customers. Often called upon to bridge the gap between major vendors, component suppliers, and end users, Silicon Mechanics focuses on problem-solving approaches and develops solutions tailored to each customer’s individual needs. Examples of recent successes include:
“The solution Silicon Mechanics developed is fast, reliable, and easily supported – but not super expensive,” said Michael McManus, Knome’s senior vice president. “The Silicon Mechanics team was extremely helpful in openly working through the various issues we encountered, ensuring we get the performance we need, and helping us organize hard drives to minimize failure rates and maximize performance.”
