Malouf® Warehouse Move: More Space, Faster Shipping, and Poised for More Growth
Lenoir, North Carolina (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 -- Malouf®, one of the fastest growing bedding manufacturers, has moved their East Coast warehouse from Virginia to North Carolina. Their tremendous growth rate and huge expansion of inventory, along with their growing need for faster shipments, led to the company’s decision to open a new warehouse and shipping facility in Lenoir, North Carolina. The company reports that the addition of this warehouse totals over 500,000 sq. feet of wholly owned warehousing space between the East and West coasts, with additional expansion plans currently under construction.
In addition to more space, this move has been a great way to streamline their shipping logistics. “In our old warehouse in Virginia, many of the trucking companies would only pick up our cargo a few times a week since it was out of the way,” says Rob Malouf, Warehouse Manager. “The building in Lenoir is located close to a major freeway, which will greatly speed up our transit times.” He’s confident that trucks will be able to visit the new warehouse more often and get loaded more quickly.
The Lenoir facility also includes newer and more advanced logistics as a distribution center. The extra tall ceilings will allow for a substantial increase in capacity per square foot. Having warehouse facilities on both the East and West coasts is key in getting products to customers quickly.
The move in itself was a huge undertaking. Malouf® spent about three months before the move trying to clear out as much product as possible. This means shipping out most orders from Virginia and not sending in anything new. By moving day, there was still 58 trailer loads of product that were transferred to Lenoir, which equated to 9 consecutive days of sending out trucks. The move is now complete, and Malouf® is poised for the growth that has already taken hold for 2014.
