The Young Patrons Circle of American Friends of the Louvre's Annual Benefit
New York, New York (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 -- American Friends of the Louvre’s Young Patrons Circle will host their seventh annual spring gala on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at Bleecker Street Arts Club. This year’s gala, Victoire! celebrates one of the Louvre’s most iconic masterpieces, the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The sculpture is currently undergoing expert conservation at the Louvre and will be back on display at the museum in summer 2014. To achieve the final 1 million Euro necessary to finance the sculpture’s conservation, the Louvre launched an online appeal from August to December 2013. AFL was pleased to support this campaign on its own website, making a grant to the museum from its U.S. supporters. The 1 million Euro goal was achieved by December 31, 2013.
The YPC gala will feature the signature St-Germain cocktail, fine wines, hors d’oeuvres by Daniel Boulud’s Feasts and Fêtes, Chef Shannon Bard’s signature lobster bisque, music by DJ Natalie Dodge of SBND, and a silent auction of boutique luxury items and original works by acclaimed American artists Christopher Astley, Jeff Doran, Sarah Kurz, Andrea Mary Marshall and Katherine Sandoz, and from French artist Agathe de Bailliencourt (courtesy of the artist and FolioCue). Approximately 150 Francophiles and young philanthropists will attend. Expected guests include: H.I.H. Prince Napoléon, Countess Olympia Arco, Liddy Berman, David Chines, Daniel Colón, Jennifer Cuminale, Meghan Thrash, Maximilian Whitney and Curtis D. Young. The proceeds of the evening will support the mission of American Friends of the Louvre and its efforts to make the Louvre’s collections and exhibitions more widely accessible to art lovers in the U.S. and around the world.
"AFL is fortunate to have such a devoted group of young patrons whose financial support helps ensure that important Louvre projects - such as the restoration of the Winged Victory - are realized. More than ever, it is vital to engage young members in the life of the museum so that the cultural heritage it holds can be preserved for the enjoyment and education of future generations,” says Sue Devine, Executive Director of American Friends of the Louvre.
The event is scheduled from 8 p.m.-11 p.m.; cocktail attire is the dress code. Modern Luxury’s MANHATTAN magazine is the exclusive media sponsor of this event. AFL gratefully acknowledges Baccarat for its ongoing support of the Young Patrons Circle. Additionally, AFL thanks Mr. Reginald Van Lee for his generous underwriting gift toward the YPC gala.
Tickets are $275 per person (before April 24, $300 per person thereafter). To purchase tickets to the event, please visit http://www.aflouvre.org/victoire-gala.
