Fluitec to Present Studies Showing Oil May Not Just Have to Be Pumped and Dumped; Oil Could Instead Last Indefinitely
Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Oils that lubricate turbines and compressors reach the end of their life when the antioxidants have depleted. When this oil is disposed, the base oil is still healthy. Replenishing the antioxidants in a measured and controlled manner is a more environmentally sustainable and cost-effective method of managing these critical fluids.
Power plants, petro-chemical refineries and air separation companies are risk-adverse. Maintaining their oils in peak condition helps them achieve their uptime and availability goals. Every time a lube system is opened up for maintenance, an element of risk is introduced. Fluitec has developed an extensive qualification testing program to eliminate the risk of in-situ antioxidant replenishment. Boost AO offers users of critical lubricants a lower risk alternative than dumping and replacing old oil.
“Our objective is to maximize the life and performance of in-service lubricants", said Fluitec Executive Vice President Greg Livingston. " In some cases, we believe that it’s possible for oils to last the life of the plant. Boost is an important step in realizing this vision.”
“Understanding antioxidant chemistry is deep in our DNA and was the genesis of our company,” said Fluitec CEO Frank Magnotti, “Boost AO is a natural technology for us to develop after measuring antioxidants and studying fluid degradation.”
After extensive qualification testing, Boost AO is added into in-service lubricants at a small percentage. No special blending equipment is required and the process is carried out on-site by the plant’s personnel. The simplicity of adding Boost AO however shouldn’t be confused with the heavy science behind the product.
“Boost AO is a customized formulation developed specifically for the in-service lubricant," said Dr. Crisitan Soto, director of science and technology at Fluitec. "The latest in additive chemistry and testing methodologies are employed to ensure that Boost will synergistically enhance the in-service oil’s current additive system without causing any potential adverse effects.”
