Tampa, FL (PRWEB) April 15, 2014

Nitro Mobile Solutions, a custom mobile applications development company, announced today its donation of an operational scholarship to the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida.

The Nitro Mobile Solutions Scholarship in Computer Science and Engineering will be open to full-time undergraduate students seeking a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology. The operational scholarship will be dispersed over five years. Students must prove both financial need and outstanding merit in order to be considered.

“The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is very excited that Nitro Mobile Solutions is providing a scholarship to help support undergraduates studying computer science, computer engineering or information technology. This will enhance the ability of a deserving student to complete their education and become a productive member of the Florida high tech workforce. It helps bring attention to our strong programs to encourage more students to major in these fields. The graduates can, in turn, further the goals of outstanding local companies, such as Nitro Mobile Solutions,” said Professor Lawrence O. Hall, PhD, who also serves as the Department Chair of Computer Science and Engineering.

Nitro Mobile Solutions’ CEO, Pete Slade, hopes that other software companies in the Bay area will follow this charitable lead and choose to support technological advancement in the community as well. Continuous development in technology and science is especially important for USF, considering its role within the Florida High Tech Corridor.

“Expertise and skill in computer science and engineering are vital to business growth at the local and national level. We need more of our future leaders to study technology sciences in order for that growth to happen. At Nitro, we value investing in the future of our business and the surrounding community and we’re ecstatic to play our small part. I would encourage other software engineering companies to similarly invest in our future generations,” says Slade.
