To meet growing demand for a secure cloud storage service with a social component, the team behind the web-based storage service Shared.com announced that it has re-launched its popular service, adding a new focus on content sharing.

The newly revamped Shared service, developed by Shared Media, now offers its mil of users the option to quickly share content as well as upload and share large files with anyone, anywhere. Registered users receive 100 Gigabytes of space for free at Shared.com in addition to sharing an wide range of files such as videos, photos, links, text and music with their friends.

While many other applications charge fees for access to 100 GB of storage, Shared has maintained its free version while also adding even more substantial “Pro” and “Pro Plus” versions with additional features for a small monthly fee.

Sharing Beyond Storage

Shared brings together the best features of highly visual social content-sharing platforms like Pinterest with the secure data storage capacity of a platform like Dropbox. The sleek and versatile social cloud storage app is being embraced by the many people seeking a trustworthy place to store data. The re-launched version of Shared allows users to share and interact with content seamlessly.

In addition to allowing users to share content via the app, the updated version of Shared showcases popular user content on a public “Featured” page. Users interested in gaining public exposure for their content simply add interesting content to a public folder to be reviewed by the Shared staff, who will hand pick and curate featured content -- anything from funny photos and videos to relevant articles.

Flexible Privacy Options

The developers of Shared made this feature available because they wanted users to have the option of making files public in order to meet new people, interact with a vibrant online community and enjoy the most popular content of the day. In addition, and inbox and notifications are part of the platform to push forward features that users have requested.

While Shared recognizes users’ interest in sharing, users will continue to have the option to keep their data private and secure if so desired.

"Storage is becoming more seamless as online storage prices have decreased,” said Nick Larson, Director of Product Engineering for Shared.com. “Shared.com is focusing on building a sharing platform that can be used to promote, store and share content easily. In addition, privacy options are available to keep files private or public as needed."
