Touro University Worldwide Launches the "Save Now" Scholarship Reducing Tuition by up to 40 Percent
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 15, 2014 -- In a move that reiterates the university’s legacy and leadership for providing accessibility to higher education, Touro University Worldwide (TUW) announces the “Save Now” Scholarship in an effort to make college education more affordable. Created to help new students pursue and move forward with their academic goals, the scholarship will provide 100 students with a reduced tuition of up to 40 percent. This opportunity is only available to those seeking specific online Bachelor and Master degree programs.
According to Trends in College Pricing published by the College Board, the national increase in tuition rates slowed down from 2012 to 2013 compared to previous years. Although the growth is slowing, it is still growth. The average debt for a graduating senior in 2012 was $29,400, a $2,800 dollar increase from 2011, according to the Institute for College Access & Success’ Project on Student Debt. The largest problem for students continues to be the disparity between increasing tuition rates and decreasing family income, with the report noting that student loan debt increased at an average rate of six percent per year from 2008 to 2012.
“Today’s students are faced with the difficult problem of determining how to best finance their education so they can achieve their academic goals,” said Dr. Yoram Neumann, CEO of TUW. “At Touro University Worldwide, we understand that affordability impacts attainability. The Save Now Scholarship is aimed at helping students launch or advance their educational careers by providing progressive financial support designed to minimize the need for additional outside loans.”
Scholarship recipients earning a Bachelor’s degree will receive a $150 per credit hour discount, meaning a savings of $18,000. Those earning a Master’s degree will receive a $200 per credit hour discount, meaning a savings of $7,200.
Those applying for the following degrees are eligible for the scholarship:
• Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management
• Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences
• Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology
• Master of Arts in Media and Communications Psychology
