North Canyon High School Educator Wins Taylor Morrison and KEZ 99.9’s Excellence in Education Award
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) April 18, 2014 -- Tenth-grade educator Cat Lollis is the recipient of this month’s Excellence in Education award presented by Taylor Morrison and KEZ 99.9 FM.
Every month throughout the 2013-2014 school year, the Arizona homebuilder and Phoenix radio station are honoring one amazing teacher in the community, nominated by a student or the parent of a student to win the “Excellence in Education” recognition award.
A 10th grade teacher at North Canyon High School, Lollis will be awarded $99, an “Excellence in Education” plaque, a photo feature on KEZ999.com and other prizes for her innovative and caring nature in the classroom.
Bethany Johnston nominated Lollis for the award.
“There is no possible way to sum up this magnificent instructor,” Johnston said. “I cannot begin to describe the different aspects of her that make her one-of-a-kind and flat-out awesome.”
Adjusting to different teaching techniques to fit every student, providing a stress-free environment in the classroom to help them finish their work and being a support system for all her students in times of need is what has made Lollis an outstanding teacher, Johnston said.
“She focuses on making her students better at what they want to achieve, and helping students realize their potential.” Johnston said. “She even tells stories of how she helped students get out of gangs and work toward success and if she can do that, why can't we?
Lollis’ commitment to education is evident in her different approaches to ensure her students are comfortable, confident and determined.
“The devotion to her students, and her hard work to motivate them outside the classroom, is an inspiration,“ said Bob Thompson, vice president of sales and marketing for Taylor Morrison’s Phoenix Division. “It’s what makes her such an outstanding educator and role model in the community.”
Lollis, as well as the rest of this year’s winners, will be invited to a banquet at the end of the academic year at The Capital Grille in Phoenix, where one Valley teacher will win $999.
This year’s previous winners have included Cassi & Pete Mackey of Montessori Education Centre, Jeremy Rubel of Copper Trails Elementary School, Monique Pena of Charlotte Patterson Elementary School, Julie Pascal of Diamond Canyon School, Chris Whitehead of Freemont Junior High School and Cindy Cordts of Oakwood Elementary.
