Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “String Bending Exercise Over a 12 Bar Blues - Easy Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) April 15, 2014 -- “We are studying the 12 Bar Blues and one of the things if you’re are playing blues or rock or a lot of other styles of music you got to have a good string bend,” says MacLennan. This exercise consists of bending into the Seventh of each chord in the blues and again Jon demonstrates this over the chords on the backing track that he explains are A7, D7 and E7. Jon explains the Seventh for each chord as follows; on the A7 the Seventh is G, he starts a half step below on F# (F Sharp) on the 7th fret of the 2nd string and he bends it up to an F. Jon says, “you can work on adding some vibrato”. Next, he moves to D7 and the Seventh is C which he bends from B on the 7th fret of the 2nd string, another half step bend and then he moves back and repeats G again. And finally for the five chord, E7, the Seventh is D which bends up from the C on the 8th fret of the first string, which is a Whole Step and then he moves back to the D7 and then to the A7 to complete the 12 Bar Progression. "It’s not easy to have the control to bend half steps and whole steps," says MacLennan. Jon continues this blues guitar lesson by improvising this technique over the backing track.
