Superb App for iPhone and iPod Launches to Build an Intent Graph for Places
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Today marks the launch of Superb (https://dosuperb.com), a new intent-based social networking app available for download for iPhone and iPod touch. Superb lets users share their favorite spots, browse places others find exciting and connects them with friends that share a mutual desire to go out and experience these places.
From the moment users tap on the app, Superb reveals places in full photo view to scroll through and read about from the perspective of someone excited to either check out the place or go back again. From restaurants to street art, live music venues to hiking trails, Superb elevates user-generated content based on overall community popularity. If users are looking for a specific place or want to browse by an interest, they can simply search or tap on a category to do so.
Superb's simplicity is what makes it addicting. Users swipe right to mark places to do, swipe left to mark places they are not interested in and tap the center button to mark that they have already been to a place. If a user is interested in a place, Superb unveils others who are also interested, highlighting friends at the top for quick access to message them through the Superb Conversation feature.
The Conversation feature makes planning and getting offline easy. With Superb, users already know what places they are interested in, what places their friends are interested in and through viewing Things in Common with friends, users can see places of mutual interest. Conversations are made easy by simply tapping on a message icon, which brings up a compose view to add a message to people.
“With Superb, we wanted to create a social experience that connects the online world with a user’s offline life,” said Eddy Lu, co-founder & CEO of Superb. “Superb is meant to show users all the cool things around them and help connect them with friends who want to go to the same places, so they can get offline and explore the city together.”
"I'm always on the road, but I never want to feel like a tourist when I visit a new city," said Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and partner at Initialized Capital. “Superb let's me experience a city like a local, connecting me to amazing places and friends with shared interests.”
Superb was founded by Eddy Lu, Nikhil Pandit and Daishin Sugano, the team that brought you Grubwithus. Grubwithus has evolved into Superb based on the popular need for a simple app to collect places users want to try based on recommendations from friends and people in the know. Superb has raised $7.7 M in seed financing from investors, including Upfront Ventures, A-Grade Investments, First Round Capital, Y-Combinator, Alexis Ohanian and Webb Investment Network, among others.
The Superb App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://www.AppStore.com/Superb.
