Prominent International Miniature Art Show at Seaside Art Gallery in May
Nags Head, NC (PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- The “Minis” have arrived for the International Miniature Art Show at Seaside Art Gallery located in Nags Head, NC, an oceanside community surrounded by the natural beauty of the Outer Banks seashore. It is the Outer Banks’ first art gallery and was established by the Smith family in 1961. It is one of the largest privately owned galleries in the Southeast.
Seaside Art Gallery’s exhibit is 1 of 21 recognized Miniature Art Shows in the nation. This internationally recognized miniature art show is open to the public for viewing from May 3rd through May 31st. More than 500 original works of art by artists are featured. Some of the world’s most renowned miniature artists participate in this gallery’s show. The show begins with free live demonstrations by artist Debra Keirce, who is a Signature Member of the Miniature Artists of America (MAA), and ends in celebration with an Awards Ceremony.
Since the 16th Century, miniature artists work diligently to create these little jewels. Artists use specific techniques, diminished format, and reduced scale to create remarkable results in excellence with fine detail and visual expression.
“We are so pleased to bring this extraordinary event to the public each year. We first created the show to showcase the diverse talents of local, national, and international artists through this unusual medium. It has grown today to international prominence for guests, artists, and art societies alike. I am excited about this show because it has much to offer our guests of all ages, from the new art enthusiast to the seasoned art collector,” says Melanie Smith, owner of the family owned and operated gallery. The hallmark of this show offers excellence in miniature art, embracing a variety of intellectual, emotional, and imaginative themes.
The show is open and free to the public. It begins with live demonstrations by distinguished artist Debra Keirce, on Saturday May 3rd, 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm. Ms. Keirce will demonstrate how she creates her miniature art. She says, “Part of my process for creating miniature fine art involves the use of magnifying lenses and close-range binoculars. I enjoy demonstrating these techniques for art lovers.” Ms. Keirce is a Signature Member of the prestigious Miniature Artists of America (MAA).
Anyone attending the show in May is invited to cast their vote for their favorite “mini” for the People’s Choice Award. The winning piece for the People’s Choice award will be announced along with the Judges’ awards at the Awards Reception at the gallery on Saturday May 24th, 7pm-9pm. The Awards Reception is open to the public, where refreshments will be served and attendees can meet the artists in person.
