Marathon Health Unveils New Healthy Like Me Campaign
Burlington, VT (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Marathon Health, Inc. today announced the launch of a new first-of-its-kind campaign highlighting individual health achievement among the patients it serves.
http://www..marathon-health.com/ [Marathon Health __title__ ], based in Winooski, Vt., provides population health management services, including primary care, health coaching and disease management, at more than 130 health centers across 37 states. http://www..marathon-health.com/healthylikeme/ [Healthy Like Me __title__ ], an initiative of Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford, shines a light on the achievements of Marathon Health patients as they work to lead a healthy lifestyle.
“Healthy Like Me really gets at the heart of our service model,” said Ford. “We believe patients are capable of becoming responsible, active participants in the process of improving their health. Our mission is to guide them on that journey. The pride we have in the individuals highlighted in the Healthy Like Me campaign is only matched by the pride they have in themselves.”
Some of the stories featured on the Healthy Like Me website include:
• A 300-pound man lost 60 pounds and recently completed a half-marathon.
• A diabetic with high blood pressure was able to reduce risks to normal levels.
• A life-long smoker who quit smoking to be there for his daughter.
In addition to helping employees improve their health, the onsite total population health management program highlighted in the Healthy Like Me campaign has proven it can reduce employers’ healthcare costs. For example, in a given population of 1,000 employees, 31 percent will have hypertension, according to the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics. The excess cost tied to that specific condition is $3,864 per employee per year, according to estimates from Integrated Healthcare Information Services, Inc., which provides predictive modeling to the healthcare industry. With a 10 percent reduction in prevalence of hypertension across an employee population, employers could save $115,000 annually for that one risk factor alone.
Marathon Health has opened the Healthy Like Me program to all of its clients and their employees. Each quarter a committee selects 10 people to represent the campaign. The Q1 winners are available on the Healthy Like Me website at http://www.marathon-health.com/healthylikeme.
