(PRWEB UK) 17 April 2014 -- National Hire Solutions provider, GAP, has been shortlisted for a number of Scottish Business Awards which recognise excellence and celebrate those who are building and leading dynamic businesses, with Scottish roots.
GAP had an extremely successful 2013 with turnover up 21% for the year to reach over £100 million in revenues for the first time in the company’s history. In addition to this, GAP enhanced its national coverage during the year, opening 8 new depots and taking the total number of locations to 94 across the UK.
GAP has been shortlisted in the following categories:
• Growth Strategy of the Year
• Family Business of the Year
• Green Business of the Year
The Growth Strategy of the Year award recognises organisations that best demonstrate an organic growth strategy and has achieved outstanding levels of sales, profit and market share improvement.
The Family Business of the Year award recognises an outstanding Scottish based family business that is an essential part of Scotland’s economy. GAP is proud to be an independently owned family business that is committed to providing the best service and reliability for their customers throughout the UK. Family values such as trust, integrity and honesty are paramount throughout all of GAP’s nationwide operations and being independently owned has positively affected business success for GAP. It also ensures GAP has the flexibility to quickly adapt to changes in the UK economy.
The final award that GAP has been shortlisted for is the Green Business of the Year. This award goes to a company who has shown outstanding leadership in achieving environmental goals, and reducing its carbon footprint. GAP’s Green Action Plan and sustainable purchase policies aim to make a real difference to the carbon footprint of our customer's sites across the UK. GAP also continues to develop and implement more environmentally efficient practices in the day to day operating procedures of the business for example; the use of rain water harvesting tanks provides a saving of around 70% in mains water consumption. Furthermore, GAP sources approximately 23% of its national power requirements from renewable sources.
The winners of each category will be announced on 12th May 2014 at a prestigious award ceremony that will be attended annually by more than 1,600 people from the business community. The event will be hosted by renowned comedian Michael McIntyre and includes contributions from two ‘Knights of the realm’ in Sir Richard Branson, who is the event’s keynote speaker, and Sir Tom Hunter who heads up the judging panel for the awards.
