Shady Grove Fertility Patients Featured on NBC'S TODAY Show
Rockville, MD (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Last week, successful Shady Grove Fertility patients, Sandi and Philip Palmisano, brought their newborn twins Grayson and Emmalee to NBC’s TODAY Show; http://www.today.com/moms/after-failed-ivf-cycles-couples-friend-carries-their-twins-2D11792130. The Palmisanos were joined by their surrogate and fellow Shady Grove Fertility patient Andrea Rivas, her husband Marc, and their twins Connor and Avery. While Sandi and Andrea share a unique bond, they are two of many who have met via the Shady Grove Fertility Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ShadyGroveFertility which has become a gathering place for more than 13,000 women and men. Through Facebook, Andrea and Sandi are part of an online family that offers encouragement, advice, and friendship throughout the fertility treatment process.
Meeting on Shady Grove Fertility’s Facebook page and then in person, Andrea and Sandi soon included their husbands. Both women were patients of Jeanne O’Brien, M.D. and underwent IVF treatment. After five failed IVF attempts, the Palmisanos were told they would require a gestational carrier. Andrea and Marc had their twins after successful IVF treatment and wanted their close friends, the Palmisanos, to experience parenthood. Andrea volunteered to be Sandi’s gestational carrier and delivered twins earlier this year.
“At Shady Grove Fertility, we make sure our patients are supported by investing in the development of social communities, both online and in person,” said Patty Stull, Vice President of Strategic Development at Shady Grove Fertility. “Our Facebook page is a rich dynamic environment that helps women find the treatment they need, guidance from others in similar circumstances, and even, like Sandi, a friend who helped her in the most remarkable and unexpected way.”
