Vu1 Corporation Strengthens Intellectual Property (IP) Portfolio
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Vu1 Corporation (OTCBB: VUOC), a developer and manufacturer of mercury-free, energy-efficient, general illumination lighting technology, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application for Vu1’s Electron Stimulated Luminescence™ (ESL) lighting technology.
Specific patent information enclosed with the Notice of Allowance included:
- US Patent Application No. 13/262,594
- Patent title: System and Manufacturing a Cathodoluminescent Lighting Device
Vu1 Corporation designs, develops and sells mercury-free lighting products using its proprietary ESL™ technology. The technology creates the same light quality as an incandescent bulb but is up to 70 percent more energy efficient, lasts up to five times longer than incandescents and contains no mercury.
“ Vu1 Corporation is dedicated to applying its technology to produce energy-efficient, environmentally friendly lighting solutions worldwide and has invested a great deal in developing its ESL lighting technology,” says William B. Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of the Berkeley, CA-based company. “To say that we are excited that we are about to deliver the bulb for which consumers have long awaited – energy-efficient, mercury-free, long-lasting and affordable with incandescent-light quality – is an understatement.”
Smith notes that protecting the disruptive lighting technology is of strategic importance to the company and its shareholders. “We now have nine patent allowances and we will seek to achieve similar success with the rest of our patent submissions and do whatever is necessary to protect our IP.”
A shipment of the company’s flagship product—the R30 bulb (a replacement bulb for recessed 65-watt flood lamps)—is expected to be available to Vu1 channel partners by the end of April 2014.
