Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) April 16, 2014

Etymotic Research, an innovator in hearing wellness solutions, today announced the release of its Generation Hear educational video, now available for viewing on etymotic.com. The lively and informative program contains essential information about hearing health specifically for music educators and their students. The 15-minute video is an update of a similar presentation called Hear for a Lifetime, which was distributed on DVD by Etymotic four years ago.

“Schools protect students with padding and helmets to prevent sports injuries and they require the use of goggles to protect students’ eyes in chemistry labs and in wood and metal shops. In the same way, every student musician should be equipped with hearing protection to prevent cumulative and irreversible hearing loss when exposed to loud music in band rooms and while marching. And, because they spend so much of their day exposed to loud music, music educators can be even more at risk than their students,” said Gail Gudmundsen, AuD, audiologist and Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at Etymotic.

Generation Hear makes the case that it is critically important for musicians and educators to wear hearing protection while making music, especially indoors. The video contains interviews with musicians, music educators and audiologists. It also illustrates the inner workings of the human ear, how we hear, and how our hearing can become damaged when exposed to loud sounds. Etymotic’s Adopt-A-Band program, detailed on its website, makes protecting large numbers of students with ETY•Plugs® high-fidelity earplugs easy and affordable. There are approximately 300 bands enrolled in Adopt-A-Band, with more joining every month as increased awareness of music-induced hearing loss reaches those most at risk.

In addition to the online video, DVDs are available to current and new members of the Adopt-A-Band Program.
