Last Year's SSR United Team
SSR’s vision is to make the world a healthier and happier place and by working with DC Scores, we can certainly achieve both of our goals!
Rockville MD (PRWEB) April 18, 2014
The DC SCORES Cup is the largest annual charity soccer tournament in the area and is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers. The World Cup-style, round robin co-ed tournament was created in 2003 and pits teams from local law firms and corporations against each other for a day of fun and competition. The one-day tournament is held each June at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Gaithersburg, MD. Last year’s 2013 tournament fielded a record 30 teams. Almost 90 percent of all monies raised directly benefits the DC SCORES program for 1,500 low-income youth.
The 2014 charity soccer tournament will take place Saturday, June 14th. Sport and Spine Rehab’s team will compete in the competitive bracket, versus casual, this year, so the intensity level will be higher than previous years.
Said Chino Robles, team spokesman and Rehab Specialist at Sport and Spine Rehab of McLean: “It is World Cup time and therefore an excellent opportunity to enjoy and play soccer, and it’s a way for us to enact our mission, vision, and values. Our mission is to ‘be the trusted leader in enriching the health and well-being of the public, one life at a time’. DC SCORES organization builds teams through after-school programs for low-income youth by instilling self-expression, physical fitness, and a sense of community. SSR’s vision is to make the world a healthier and happier place and by working with DC Scores, we can certainly achieve both of our goals!”
Dr. Barton Bishop, SSR Chief Clinical Officer and member of the Board of Directors of DC Scores commented, “I have to say that this charity is my little baby. I am currently a member of their Board of Directors and have always personally benefited from interactions with them and the kids. I highly encourage everyone to visit the DC Scores website to find out about what DC SCORES does for kids in DC. The SCORES CUP is just one of the ways that the charity raises money to benefit these kids.”
Sport and Spine Rehab’s goal for this year is to raise $5000.00. Donations can be made at: http://www.razoo.com/story/Sport-And-Spine-Rehab-S-2014-Dc-Scores-Cup-Team?referral_code=sw
