Tamils for Obama: We Like Jayalalithaa, and We Suggest That Our Cousins in Tamil Nadu Vote Her Way
Chennai, India (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- "We like Jayalalithaa and we admire her," said the spokesman from Tamils for Obama. "When we have dealt with her in the past, we have seen that she is wise, courageous and has the best interest of the Eelam Tamils in her heart. Her political judgment is sound. When we see Jayalalithaa supports a position, we are disposed to support it too.
"Jayalalithaa is campaigning in support of her party AIADMK. We suggest that Tamils who are able to vote in Tamil Nadu should listen to her and consider voting the way she says."
"CM Jayalalithaa stood against central government (Congress Party) policy even though the Congress Party could remove her from office. She called for sanctions against Sri Lanka, she called for a referendum on self-rule in the northeast of Sri Lanka, and she raised her voice against India's friendly policy toward Sri Lanka. All of these things rubbed the Congress Party's fur the wrong way. The Congress Party did not like it, but these things were the right thing to do.
India is about to have a national election. Whichever party wins the election will probably govern India for the next five years. It is not known what part, if any, AIDMK play in this.
"We like Jayalalithaa, and we suggest that our cousins in Tamil Nadu vote her way," said the spokesman from Tamils for Obama.
Tamils for Obama is a politically active group of Tamil Americans. They believe that over 70,000 Tamil civilians were massacred during the last weeks of the Sri Lankan ethnic war. They have also watched the behavior of the Sri Lankan Singhalese victors after the war, and strongly conclude that Tamils in Sri Lanka will only be safe when this unfortunate island is divided into two states.
