Association for Corporate Growth Applauds Formation of Bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the global organization focused on driving middle-market growth, commends Members of Congress for forming the bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth. Under the leadership of Representatives Steve Stivers (R-OH-15), Jared Polis (D-CO-2), Tom Rice (R-SC-7) and Brad Schneider (D-IL-10) the recently formed Caucus will educate policy makers and leaders on economic impact of the middle market and how it serves as a powerful engine for job and economic growth. According to the National Center for the Middle Market, a collaboration between The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and GE Capital, the middle market includes companies with $10 million to $1 billion in annual revenues. The Caucus will address issues relevant to this critical segment, which employs more than 44 million people in the United States.
• Congressman Steve Stivers: "Middle-market businesses in the United States account for one-third of private jobs and are found in every industry in every state. Middle-market businesses are family-owned, sole proprietorships, private companies and public firms and span all industries and every congressional district. This bipartisan Caucus will be an excellent way to educate members of Congress from across the country on the value and important role a vibrant middle market can have in our nation’s economy."
• Congressman Jared Polis: "This segment is a powerful economic engine and is the market that moves America, employs more than 44 million people and has proven to be a resilient and consistent driver of job creation and sales growth, even during the headwinds of the recession. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to raise awareness of this important segment."
• Congressman Tom Rice: “With 200 middle-market companies located in my district that employ more than 58,000 people, I strongly believe the Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth will serve as a foundation to identify ways to collaborate with mid-market businesses. Together, we will strive to grow and improve economic competitiveness in this segment of our economy."
• Congressman Brad Schneider: “I’m proud to help establish this bipartisan Caucus to foster the conversation about the importance of middle market businesses and the vital role they play in our economy. If the middle market were a country, it would rank as the fifth-largest economy in the world. This caucus will help generate more awareness about middle market companies, their growth opportunities and the need to fully support this sector in order to better grow our economy."
The Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth will serve as an important forum of Members dedicated to elevating awareness of the middle market through data-driven research and regular briefings for congressional staff and policy leaders. The first event for the Caucus will be held on Thursday, May 29, 4:00 – 5:00 PM EDT in Washington, DC.
"Today, the Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth co-chairs are standing up for their constituencies to ensure their colleagues are informed about the significant contributions of the middle market," said Pamela Hendrickson, chief operating officer, The Riverside Company and ACG Chairman of the Board. "ACG and our members applaud them on their leadership and call on other Members of Congress to join the Caucus and support a strong U.S. middle market."
