The new R2 Standard includes heightened requirements for electronics recyclers such as tighter export regulations, detailed downstream material tracking and a stricter focus on data security and destruction. The R2:2013 certification is a guarantee that all computers and electronics that enter the Atlantix Global Technology Asset Recovery Services program will be handled responsibly.

The R2 standard was originally developed in 2008 through a joint process convened by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and involving electronics recyclers and refurbishers, manufacturers, retailers, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders.
