Girl Scouts to Honor Elaine Cook as the 2014 Athens Woman of Distinction
Athens, GA (PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will honor Elaine Cook as the 2014 Athens Woman of Distinction. The luncheon event in her honor will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Athens Country Club. Tickets are available until April 28 for individual purchase for $50.
The Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction award honors a woman who reflects the values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who serves as an excellent role model for girls. Elaine Powell Cook is the Vice President of Governmental Public Affairs, Chief Marketing Officer of Athens Regional Health System. She currently serves on the Athens Area Steering Committee of the Athens Rotary Club, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night, the L.E.A.D. Athens Steering Committee, The United Way Women’s Leadership Circle, the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospital Government Affairs Committee and the Georgia Hospital Association Executive Communications Committees. In recognition of her leadership, involvement in her community and mentoring women, Cook was the 2008 recipient of the international, Athena Award; and the 2012 Chamber Champion of the Year of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce.
Cook is a graduate of the University of Georgia and excitedly moved back to Athens 16 years ago when she married an Athens area native, Jon Cook. They are members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. They have two children, McKenzie (15) and Jack (11); and two dogs, Belle and Magnolia.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Gold $2,000; Silver $1,000; and Bronze $500.
