Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases "How to Play String Bends Over a C Blues Progression - Blues Guitar Lesson"
(PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- "One of the things I really like to do is bend minor thirds," says MacLennan, "that’s where you take a note and you bend it to raise it up by a step and a half." Jon explains that what he is doing is bend into the sevenths of each chord in the blues progression. The first chord in the progression is C7 and the 7th tone in that chord is a Bb (B flat) and demonstrates this by bending the 12th fret of the 3rd string to the pitch of the 15th fret. Jon says, "You want to bend it as in tune as you can and it takes a lot of strength to play that kind of Albert King bending." Next is the F7 chord and the 7th tone is Eb (E flat) which he bends to from C on the 13th fret of the 2nd string to the pitch of the 16th fret. Next Jon moves back to the one chord and repeats the first bend again. Next is the Five Chord which is G7 and the 7th tone is F which he bends to from D on the 15th fret of the 2nd string and bends up to the tone of the 18th fret. Finally Jon goes back to the four chord and then finally the one chord to finish off this easy blues guitar lesson. Guitar TAB’s are available at BluesGuitar.com.
