Universal Window Coverings Announces New Product Line
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Universal Window Coverings in Dallas, TX is pleased to announce their new line of custom made O'Hair interior shutters.
O'Hair shutters are made in the USA from American hardwoods. Using White Poplar grown and harvested on family owned land, their emphasis is on sustainable forestry. Because they have a vested interest in the continued success of the forest, landowners manage their stewardship with great care.
Mike Coronato, President of Universal Windows, says American grown hardwoods make a big difference in the quality of the shutters. "Wood from outside the USA may be cheaper, but we have no idea how the wood was harvested or how consistent the batches will be. This can be a problem when creating matching shutters for a customer."
A crucial step in creating quality wood shutters is the drying process. Open air, low temperature drying over a 2-3 month process is best. In speaking of wood harvested outside the country, Coronato says, "We have no way of knowing how that wood was dried. If done too fast or at the wrong temperature, the wood may look ok to the eye while in reality it's still a bit "green". This makes for unstable lumber and dramatically increases the chances of warped shutters in the future."
Says Coronato, "There was a time in years past when shutter companies used basswood for their primary material. There were only a few sources for it in the country and demand was high. Often the wood wasn't cured properly. Months after installation the louvers would warp and staples would pull out as the shutter adjusted to the climate. The drying process is crucial and by using O'Hair Shutters, we never have problems."
He continues, "With O'Hair, we know we are getting the best quality wood, carefully selected and dried in a controlled process. That makes for an excellent product we are proud to represent. "
Far removed from a "one size fits all" approach, O'Hair shutters are custom crafted to each individual order.
Says Coronato, "An "off the rack" approach may work in some businesses, but not when installing shutters. Custom shutters are a significant investment in a home. Done properly, they add beauty and increase property values. Every house has windows. But not every window is the same. We know O'Hair treats each of our projects as a custom job. Everything is designed specifically to the customer's request. That makes for happy customers."
Universal Windows is also offering an exterior line of O'Hair shutters.
