Fleisher Communications Group, LLC Receives Top Honors from PRSA
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Each year, the Central Ohio chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) honors organizations that have conducted exceptional public relations programs for a wide variety of businesses, companies and industries throughout the region. This year, Fleisher Communications Group (FCG) has been selected to receive the prestigious PRism Award in two categories: Crisis Communications and Special Events.
“We are extremely honored to receive this recognition from PRSA, and proud that it is a reflection not only of what we do, but of how we do it,” said FCG founder Marcy Fleisher. “Creating communication strategies that exceed our clients’ expectations is what we strive to do each day. We never lose site of the fact that the partnerships we form with them are key to our success.”
On July 10, 2013, an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease at the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio, claimed the lives of two residents, with an additional 16 cases reported in the first 24 hours. Within 48 hours of the outbreak, FCG was engaged to handle the flow of information to the Wesley Ridge residents and their families, the facility’s employees, and the media. For its day-to-day management of the crisis, PRSA is honoring FCG in the Crisis Communications category.
"Marcy Fleisher and the team at FCG provided invaluable services to Methodist ElderCare Services in a time of corporate crisis,” said Margaret Carmany, Methodist ElderCare Services CEO, the company that owns and operates Wesley Ridge. “Marcy's help was accurate, timely, and made dealing with a frenzied media situation as tolerable as it could possibly be. Beyond the services Marcy provided, she became a true member of our team in the process, working long hours with us as she handled the logistics and offered sound advice."
Melissa’s House is a home in Downtown Columbus that, once renovated, will provide permanent residential housing for adults living with mental illness. To educate and increase awareness, FCG put together a program, “Living and Loving with Mental Illness” and obtained permission to show the Lifetime TV original movie, “Call Me Crazy” on The Ohio State University campus. In addition, FCG put together a panel to share their personal stories and to lead the audience discussion. Attendees surveyed after the event, expressed high praise for the awareness that the event raised. One attendee shared the following critique,“The information was presented with sensitivity. It provided new understanding for those afflicted with mental illness and insight into how it affects family members and friends.” For the strategic planning, implementation, promotion and overall success of the event, PRSA awarded FCG top honors in the Special Events category.
A record number of PRism award entries were submitted and judged this year. FCG, along with other award recipients, were announced and recognized at the 2014 PRism Awards luncheon, held at VUE Columbus in the city's Brewery District.
