Jimmy Johnson Will Host a New "Leading Edge" Segment On the Growing Popularity of "you-pick" Organic Farms
(PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Across the nation, thousands of people prefer the taste and freshness of produce picked right off the vines. However, outside of individuals who are able to cultivate a large enough garden in their yards, most people must depend on what the local grocery store carries, and often times, this is anything but off the vine fresh.
This is precisely why you-pick organic farms have increased in popularity over the past several years. With people looking for ways to save money on produce and still obtain the freshest offerings possible, you-pick farms have provided a necessary service many have taken advantage of. Additionally, this service helps out local agriculture as well, as the money goes directly back to the local farms, without traveling through a middle man, and the farmers do not have to hire as much outside labor in order to pick the crops.
You-pick farms have proven an extremely valuable service for both farmers and consumers in the region. "Leading Edge with Jimmy Johnson" is creating a public television program to help educate the audience on significant cultural events and activities throughout the region as it showcases individuals from around the community who are affected by these organic farms.
The series is distributed to Public Television stations throughout the United States and is not distributed through PBS. Please visit the Leading Edge website at leadingedgeseries.com or contact the producers at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for more information.
