Colonial in Weymouth, MA, Celebrates 50 Years of Nursing Excellence
Weymouth MA (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- For 50 years, Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Weymouth has enjoyed a reputation for nursing excellence. The Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group rehabilitation and skilled nursing center consistently receives high marks from state agencies that oversee the quality of nursing homes throughout Massachusetts.
In 1963, Colonial was founded by Thomas F. and Rita M. Welch with the goal to provide skilled nursing care in a homelike atmosphere. Today Colonial proudly offers our residents and their families a center rich in tradition, offering short-term rehabilitative care, long-term care and a specialized Alzheimer's Unit. The Center also boasts an Adult Day Health Center, the longest serving center on the South Shore. The 173-bed nursing facility recently introduced a Short-Term Pulmonary Program for respiratory care and tracheostomy dependent patients.
“Celebrating 50 years is a very significant achievement,” says Steve Kelly, administrator of Colonial. “The level of devotion by our long-term staff is remarkable and a distinction that underscores the Welch Group’s family oriented approach to caring for older adults,” adds Kelly.
In 2013, for the third year in a row, Colonial received a deficiency-free survey from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Additionally, Colonial is accredited by The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO), a nationally recognized symbol of quality that confirms Colonial’s commitment and dedication to providing the highest quality healthcare. And in 2014, Colonial was included in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Nursing Homes in America list, receiving a 5-star quality rating. Colonial continues to improve upon its services while providing opportunities for social activities and events.
