Exciting News at the St. Louis Renaissance Faire
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The St. Louis Renaissance Faire is pleased to announce the arrival of new, exciting changes. The Faire will be under new management for the 2014 show and in the future.
Mid-America Festivals is the nation’s largest producer of outdoor themed events. Mid-America Festivals currently devotes its time towards developing some of the best Renaissance festivals in the country. These Renaissance Festivals include Minnesota, Michigan, Kansas City and Bay Area (Tampa, FL). Between expanding on the foundation of the St. Louis Renaissance Faire and new management, Mid-America Festivals is excited for the 2014 season.
Travel back in time to the beautifully wooded, 16th century village called Petit Lyon. Patrons can roam the 100 shops for unique crafts and goods as artisans demonstrate numerous time-period skills. Along with the 16th century feel, the Renaissance Faire has daily jousts, a royal court, nine stages of entertainment and food. The Faire also has four themed weekends planned which include special events and specialty vendors, in addition to the regular 100 artisans and food vendors. This year’s themed weekends include Quest for the Holy Grail, Kilts & Kings, Wonders of the World and High Seas Adventure.
Quest for the Holy Grail (May 17-18) will bring two new competitions to the Faire. It’s time to grab an apron and mixing bowl and whip up something delicious. The Faire is hosting its very first cupcake battle. Participants do not have to be professional bakers to partake in this battle. The second competition calls all crafters, gardeners and fairy fans to submit a house in the Fairy House Competition. There will also be a grape stomp and fudge fling to check out.
Kilts & Kings (May 24-26) is expected to wow patrons during the Highland Games. The Highland Games are a combination of modern strength training and ancient gaming practice. After the games, patrons are invited to show off their best kilt in the kilt competition, along with a keg toss. Prizes will be awarded to the participants with the longest throw.
Wonders of the World (May 31 and June 1) will begin to unveil the mysteries of the realm with live belly dance performances and participant competitions. This year, the Faire is adding Ladies Shopping Weekend. All ladies are invited to round up their friends and make their way to the Faire for exclusive deals. The $20 ticket includes admission into the Faire, a free glass of wine, gift bag and the opportunity to receive discounts from select artisans. Also featured during this weekend are a Fantasy Mask Competition and Steampunk Costume Contest.
High Seas Adventure (June 7-8) will bring out the pirate in patrons. The Faire is on a mission to discover the best beards in all seven seas. Participants can enter their facial hair into the Longest Beard, the Grizzliest, Most Unique, Best Mustache or the Best Trimmed beard category for their chance to win prizes. There will also be a tattoo competition for women to participate in. The categories include Best Color, Best Black and White, Best Pirate themed and People’s Choice.
New experiences and attractions don’t end with the themed weekends and special events. This year, for the shopping lover, the St. Louis Renaissance Faire will feature an Artisan Appreciation Weekend. During the first two weekends of the Faire, patrons will be able to support their favorite shoppes and get rewarded. By turning in their receipts totaling $150 or more, they can receive one free admission ticket to return on one of the remaining weekends. Children young and old will also enjoy the new Fairy House Forest where they can take a walk along the paths of magical fairy houses and maybe even meet a fairy or two. This year a food and blood drive along with military discounts will also be available at the Faire. Donations will go towards supporting the community and will benefit patrons with reduced admission into the Faire.
The St. Louis Renaissance Faire begins on Saturday, May 17 and ends on Sunday, June 8.
