DWI Lawyer Evan Levow to Speak about DWI Field Sobriety Testing at a Trial Skills University Seminar
(PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Evan M. Levow, the founder of Levow & Associates, P.A., will be speaking at the Trial Skills Universit : Lawyers Training Lawyers two-day seminar on May 16-17, 2014 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
“This seminar is a unique opportunity for lawyers to acquire a deeper understanding of defense in the area of sobriety testing, thanks to the participation of renowned experts,” said NJ DWI lawyer Levow.
The event targets lawyers who defend those accused of DWI offenses and-or other impaired driving charges.
The first day of the seminar will center around “Shining the Light on Standardized Field Sobriety Testing in Court.” Topics will include advice on analyzing a client’s performance on the standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs), as well as mock cross-examinations on the stop and on the SFSTs.
Levow, one of the founding faculty members of Trial Skills University, will speak about SFSTs from a litigation perspective. He will discuss how SFSTs are dealt with by the courts, how to utilize the government’s own statistics to debunk the myth surrounding the exercises, and how to cross-examine the arresting officer. Levow will also discuss how the standardized field sobriety tests have not been validated for the Drug Recognition Evaluation Program (DRE) and explain why they should not be admissible against the defendant in drug-based DWI prosecution.
The second day of the seminar will concentrate on “Blood Evidence in DWI Cases: Mastering the Science.” Lectures include but are not limited to Phlebotomy 101, Lab Discovery, Lab Errors, and Blood Alcohol Testing: Gas Chromatography.
“The information taught on Day 2 will prove to be invaluable for any attorney that defends DWI based on blood testing,” said Levow.
In addition to Evan Levow, other speakers include Deandra Grant, named one of the best lawyers in Dallas, Michael Kessler, the “go to guy” for DUI in Central and Southern Florida, and Michele Tjader, known in Wisconsin for her forceful and resourceful cross-examination of police officers at trial.
